About

Nathan Dahlin joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2023. He holds a BS, MS, and PhD in electrical engineering and an MA in applied mathematics from the University of Southern California. Prior to joining the University at Albany, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. From 2008 to 2015, Nathan was a senior audio DSP research and development engineer at Audyssey Laboratories in Los Angeles.

His present research is centered on understanding fundamental problems in machine learning, stochastic control, optimization, and microeconomics, with the goal of developing computationally efficient decision-making approaches ensuring reliability in the presence of uncertainty and risk, particularly in smart energy systems.

Dr. Dahlin is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). He also serves as a reviewer for a number of journals and conferences, including the annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, the IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems (TCNS), Transactions on Power Systems (TPS), and Transactions on Smart Grid (TSG).
