Dear UAlbany Community,
This week we will cross another important milestone in the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering’s (CNSE) reunification with UAlbany.
As I shared last month, ten CNSE academic programs will, from now on, be offered in the newly re-named and expanded UAlbany College of Nanotechnology, Science & Engineering (CNSE) led by Dean Michele Grimm.
Now come the educators and researchers who bring the academic programs to life.
This week, 27 SUNY Poly CNSE faculty members and 2 lecturers will formally transition back to UAlbany to continue their excellent teaching, service, and research as part of CNSE’s new Department of Nanoscale Science & Engineering. I hope you will join me in welcoming these colleagues back to UAlbany.
Over the last week, CNSE’s webpage has been updated to reflect the college’s new name, its expanded scope, and to re-introduce our new colleagues.
Also joining the UAlbany family this week are 28 post-docs and staff members from SUNY Poly, whose responsibilities are directly related to CNSE, ranging from administrative and student support to instructional technologists. We will begin the fall semester with all CNSE academic personnel relocated to UAlbany.
The work of these administrative colleagues is critically important to ensuring a smooth transition for incoming CNSE students, as well as to our collective success as one of the most diverse public research institutions in the country.
Over the next month, 88 CNSE Research Foundation personnel will also make the transition from SUNY Poly to UAlbany, as will CNSE’s Center of Excellence in Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology and the Center for Advanced Technology in Nanomaterials and Nanoelectronics. This is an exciting prelude to new and innovative research collaborations on the horizon.
In the final weeks before the fall semester begins, we will remain hard at work to ensure CNSE students and our new colleagues enjoy a seamless transition to the UAlbany community. Again, we want to express our deepest appreciation to all those at SUNY Poly, UAlbany, and SUNY who made this transition possible.
I look forward to formally celebrating the CNSE-UAlbany reunification with you in the near future, but, in the meantime, I hope you will find some time to enjoy the final weeks of the summer.
