Dana Abbott is a professor of practice in the Department of Literacy and the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology’s Division of Educational Psychology and Methodology. She received a BA in Elementary Education/English Literature from the University of New England and started her career as an educator as a teacher in her home town of Troy, New York. She also was employed as an administrator in the CEO Head Start program in Rensselaer County, New York. She was awarded a MS and PhD in Educational Psychology and Methodology from the University at Albany. Upon completion of the doctorate, she was employed at the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Education, Research, and Service at the University of Connecticut. Prior to joining UAlbany, Dr. Abbott was a member of the Department of Literacy and Special Education at The College of Saint Rose since 2004. Dr. Abbott has taught at UAlbany, Hudson Valley Community College, University of Connecticut, and Post University.
