UPDATE: Report of Assault on Campus Near Empire Commons

Dear UAlbany community,

At 5:30pm, a student reported a possible stabbing that occurred on campus near Empire Commons. A female student reports that while walking on a wooded trail from Empire Commons to Fuller Rd she encountered an unknown female subject who attacked her with a sharp object which resulted in minor injuries. 

The suspect is described as a possibly white female, approximately 5’4” and 100 lbs., mid-30s, wearing a black hat, black hoodie and black pants at the time.

UPD is in the area and the investigation is ongoing.

If you see someone matching this description, avoid them and contact UPD immediately at 518-442-3131 or 911 from any Campus phone.

Personal Safety Tips: 

Stay in well-lit areas: Do your best to travel in places that have good lighting. 

Be aware of your surroundings: As you are walking, always be aware of who is around you, travel with friends if possible. If you notice someone following you, move to an area where there are more people and call for help.

See something, say something: Be sure to carry your cell phone with you and don’t hesitate to call 911 if you see something that doesn’t look or feel right.
