"Governor Hochul’s proposal to invest in state-of-the-art research labs on SUNY campuses is exactly what New York needs to maintain its scientific and technological edge. Three years ago, the governor challenged SUNY to be the greatest system of public research universities in the nation — leading discoveries in areas like climate change, public health and artificial intelligence that improve people’s lives. The University at Albany answered that call, increasing our research output and expanding research initiatives in critical areas like artificial intelligence, public health, climate science and semiconductor engineering. These gains require world-class scientific facilities, and I applaud the governor for recognizing the importance of investing in New York’s scientific leadership."
