Welcome to The Well at Colonial

The Well at Colonial is the UAlbany’s premier, 26,000-square-foot recreation and wellness center. The facility includes: 

  • Wellness Suite
  • Cycling Studio
  • Functional Fitness Studio
  • Group Exercise Studio
  • Mind & Body Studio
  • Cardio Area
  • Combative Mat Room
  • Day-use lockers
  • Single-stall, gender-inclusive restrooms and changing spaces

All group exercise classes are now held at The Well. The facility is located on Colonial Quad on the Uptown Campus.

Who can access The Well at Colonial?  

You must show your UAlbany ID to be admitted into The Well at Colonial.

  • Undergraduate Students: You have full access to The Well and all group exercise classes. 
  • Graduate Students: Please purchase a Recreation & Wellness Membership to access The Well and participate in group exercise classes. Semester memberships are available. 
  • Faculty, Staff & Affiliated Employees: Please purchase a Well Membership to access The Well and participate in group exercise classes. Semester, summer and annual memberships are available for faculty and staff, and semester members are available for affiliated employees.

 

What’s available inside The Well?

Access The Well's hours.

The Cardio Area — which includes treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stair climbers — is open during operational hours.

The Functional Fitness Studio — which includes squat racks, lifting platforms, bench press stations, kettlebells, functional sandbags, a tire flip station and a state-of-the-art Echelon Fitness Mirror — has its own hours.

The Combative Mat Room, Mind Body Room and Group Exercise Studio are open for use during operational hours, when not reserved for group exercise classes or events.

The Cycling Studio may only be used during group exercise classes. 

The Wellness Suite is only available during special events.

University-recognized student organizations, as well as UAlbany offices and departments, may reserve spaces within The Well at Colonial for events. Please visit the Group Rentals & Reservations page for more information.

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday:  

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
