UAlbany Hosts Symposium on Mental Health in Communities of Color
On World Mental Health Day, UAlbany's BILPOC Faculty Advancement Initiative and the Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities, in partnership with local advocacy organization 'Partners in Community Development,' co-hosted a one-day symposium focusing on mental health in communities of color.
Documentary: "Muted: Climate Marginalization in America"
October 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the ETEC Building 149/151. "Muted" takes viewers on an extraordinary journey through the Deep South, where generations of local knowledge, history, and culture are threatened by climate change. This thought-provoking documentary explores the untold truths, hidden pain, and unshakeable fear that haunts rural, underserved people in communities across America.
Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month
Tuesday, October 8 at 4:30 p.m. Conversation and Q&A with authors Angie Cruz and Lilliam Rivera. To be held in the Multi-Purpose Room, Campus Center West, University at Albany.
Cruz, a major voice in 21st century American literature, is the author of acclaimed novels that explore the Dominican American experience in New York City’s under-served neighborhoods.
Lilliam Rivera is a leading YA and middle grade fiction writer.
