About

Linda Mertz holds many positions in the School of Social Welfare. She is the Coordinator of the Internships in Aging Project, one of several model programs in the nation for training of social workers to work with older adults. She is the Statewide Coordinator of the UAlbany Coordinating Center for the NYS Office of Mental Health Deans Consortium of Schools of Social Work Project for Evidence-Based Practice in Mental Health, a collaboration between OMH and many schools of social work in NYS to increase the number of social workers interested and trained in working with people with serious mental illness. Linda assists the Associate Dean’s office with other special projects as well. She also teaches clinical practice courses. Her interests include gerontology, especially caregiving, wellness, intergenerational programming, mental health and community building.
