About the Committee
The Finance & Administration Climate Committee will explore ways to promote sense of belonging, diversity, inclusion and equity in the Division of Finance & Administration.
The Committee is charged to:
- Survey current divisional climate regarding sense of belonging, diversity, inclusion and equity in the Division of Finance & Administration
- Identify opportunities in recruitment and hiring to continue to diversify divisional workforce
- Explore onboarding and professional development opportunities for division staff to identify gaps and reduce barriers to success for underrepresented groups
- Propose workshops, trainings or events to foster a welcoming and inclusive workplace for all

Each year, in partnership with the Climate Committee, the Vice President for Finance and Administration selects recipients of awards to highlight greatness within our Division. The 2023 awards and recipients were presented in February 2024.
This award recognizes an F&A team member who creates and supports an environment of inclusiveness and belonging at UAlbany.
2023 Recipient: Dan Bushnell, Plant Utilities Engineer, for his support of inclusive practices within his diverse team, including using a variety of language translation methods, to ensure all team members are able to excel in their roles.

This award recognizes an F&A team member who goes above and beyond to successfully meet a challenge and/or support change.
2023 Recipient: Nick Bennett, Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, for his commitment to high standards, positive energy and partnerships on campus in all his facilities-related work, including his leadership on the Aesthetics committee.

This award recognizes an F&A team member who demonstrates ongoing excellence.
2023 Recipient: Eric Dombroski, ITS Senior Systems Architect, for his continued willingness to provide highly proficient skills in a variety of ITS functions while also perpetually improving systems and processes.

This award recognizes excellence and engagement in a first year F&A team member.
2023 Recipients:
- Aicha Bamba, ITS Lead Programmer/Analyst, for her contributions to service documentation for multiple enterprise scale applications including OnBase Document Management, IvyBot (Minerva chatbot) and Jotforms.
- Stephanie Deso, HR Personnel Associate, for her work to enhance the employee experience and promote compliance and best practices in the field.

This award recognizes an F&A team member who promotes collaboration, engagement and interaction across departments.
2023 Recipient: Adam Pasnik, University Police Investigator, for his continued source of positive interactions with the University community including serving as the department’s Athletic Liaison and providing personal safety trainings to community members.

- Lena Thornton, Supervising Janitor, for her dedication to her team, her job and the University as a whole through both routine matters and facilities-related challenges.
