Since joining the University at Albany in 1978, Shawky has worn nearly every hat imaginable within the Massry School of Business. He served as professor, department chair, founding director of the Center for Institutional Investment Management (CIIM), associate dean and interim dean. Along the way, he helped build nationally recognized programs, expanded opportunities for experiential learning and earned recognition as one of the world's most respected finance scholars.

For Emma, UAlbany has been more than a place to earn a degree. Through the friendships, mentors, and opportunities she found on campus, she built a community that helped her thrive. Scholarship support has eased the financial burden of college and given her greater confidence as she prepares to pursue her dreams after graduation.

The endowment of the Neuromorphic Quantum Computing Constellation will fund four Simons Empire Faculty Fellows — two focused on neuroscience and one each in mathematics and computer hardware engineering. They will study how to combine the enormous power of quantum computing with the unparalleled adaptability and energy-efficiency of the human brain.
