Welcome to Freedom Apartments

Freedom Apartments is home to 400 sophomores and juniors. Students can choose between three fully furnished apartment options:

A two-person Efficiency Apartment with one double bedroom and one bathroom
A four-person Standard Apartment with two double bedrooms and one bathroom
A five-person Standard Apartment with two double bedrooms, one single bedroom and one bathroom

Freedom Apartments’ 28 buildings are separated into four clusters named for the social justice activists, the Freedom Riders. Each building has 4 apartments, except building Number 4, which is the hub for various amenities.

Truth: Buildings A1-A7
Stanton: Buildings B1-B7
Northup: Buildings C1-C7
Lazarus: Buildings D1-D7

Housing Managers live on site and serve as a resource for students.

Apartment Amenities

Bedrooms: Each resident is provided with a mattress, bed frame, chair, desk and two dressers. Bedrooms on Freedom Apartments have full-sized beds.
Kitchens: Kitchens are fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, stove oven, range, dining table, four chairs and ample cabinet space. Residents can bring one microwave.
Living Rooms: Living rooms are fully furnished with a sofa, loveseat or chair, coffee table and two end tables.
Utilities: Heat, water, electricity, internet and trash removal are all included.
Accessibility: Apartments on the first floor are ADA-compliant.

Complex Amenities

Fitness Center: University Apartments residents may use both the Empire Commons and Liberty Terrace fitness centers.
Patio: This outdoor space is great for relaxing or attending one of our free events.
Laundry: All residents have access to laundry facilities, located in Building Number 4 of their cluster.
Bus Stop: UAlbany buses regularly stop outside Stanton and Northup.
Parking: There are three student parking lots in the Freedom Apartments complex.
Vending Machines: Vending machines are available in Building Number 4 of the A and D clusters.
ATM: A Broadview ATM is available in Lazarus D4. Learn more about on-campus banking services.
