Summer 2025 Housing for UAlbany Students
Summer 2025 housing for UAlbany students in Empire Commons or Liberty Terrace runs from 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25, to 3 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025.
Summer 2025 rates — $300 per week — are billed for any stay occurring between Sunday and Saturday. A full bill will be charged to your student account at the start of the Summer 2025 term or upon check-in.
Summer 2025 housing applications open on the Housing Portal on April 1, 2025.

To be eligible for Summer 2025 housing in Empire Commons, students must meet all the following criteria:
- Enrolled at UAlbany for both the Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 semesters
- Compliant with all immunization and health requirements
- Be either an undergraduate student with 56 or more credits, a graduate student or a student over the age of 21
Students must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Living on Empire Commons during the 2025-2026 Academic Year
- Enrolled in Summer Session courses
- Completing an in-person internship in the Capital Region during Summer 2025
- Conducting in-person research at the University during Summer 2025
- Completing in-person, on-campus employment during Summer 2025
- Participating in a UAlbany Athletics team’s summer program, as approved by the Department of Athletics
- Unable to return to their permanent address during Summer 2025 due to at least one of the following reasons:
- It is no longer a safe place for them
- Their family has become homeless
- It is no longer accessible to them due to a change in guardianship status
- It is no longer welcoming to them due to their sexual orientation or gender identity
- It is not in the continental United States
To be eligible for Summer 2025 housing in Liberty Terrace, students must meet all the following criteria:
- Enrolled at UAlbany for both the Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 semesters
- Compliant with all immunization and health requirements
Students must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Enrolled in Summer Session courses
- Completing an in-person internship in the Capital Region during Summer 2025
- Conducting in-person research at the University during Summer 2025
- Completing in-person, on-campus employment during Summer 2025
- Participating in a UAlbany Athletics team’s summer program, as approved by the Department of Athletics
- Unable to return to their permanent address during Summer 2025 due to at least one of the following reasons:
- It is no longer a safe place for them
- Their family has become homeless
- It is no longer accessible to them due to a change in guardianship status
- It is no longer welcoming to them due to their sexual orientation or gender identity
- It is not in the continental United States
Students who lived on campus during the Spring 2025 semester who are approved for Summer 2025 housing must check out of their spring housing assignment and return their keys.
Residence Halls close to all students at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, except for those students approved for participation in Commencement. Graduates must check out by 6 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025.
University Apartments close at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025. Graduates must check out by 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Students approved for Summer 2025 housing cannot check into their summer housing assignment until Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Summer 2025 Housing for Guests, Programs, Camps & Conferences
UAlbany also offers summer housing for visiting students, researchers and other guests, as well as for conferences, programs and camps, including those who are not affiliated with the University.
Guests and groups can stay in our on-campus apartments or our on-campus residence halls. Please review the information below for details.
Organizations can request summer housing in Empire Commons or Liberty Terrace, they are two of UAlbany’s on-campus apartment complexes. The apartments are fully furnished, with air conditioning and full kitchens.

Dates: June 1 to July 31, 2025
Rates: $70 per night for one guest or $300 per week for one guest
Acceptable forms of payment are as follows: money order, personal checks, or credit/debit card only.
Linens and campus parking are available at an additional cost. The apartments are fully furnished, with air conditioning and full kitchens.
All guests must be compliant with UAlbany’s immunization and health requirements. Additional information will be provided in your reservation paperwork.
Guests must be at least 21 years old to stay on Empire Commons or must be at least 18 years old to stay on Liberty Terrace.
Groups affiliated with UAlbany must be sponsored by a University department.
Groups that are not affiliated with UAlbany must apply and be approved for a Revocable Permit to be eligible for summer housing in the University Apartments.

Individual guests staying in Liberty Terrace must be at least 18 years old and be compliant with UAlbany’s immunization and health requirements. Additional information will be provided in your reservation paperwork.
Guests must be a student enrolled at another accredited college or university. They must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Participating in an internship in the Capital Region
- Participating in a UAlbany-sponsored program
- Completing an internship affiliated with a UAlbany academic department
- Conducting research affiliated with a UAlbany faculty member

The residence halls are three-story buildings on UAlbany’s Uptown Campus. The buildings are not air conditioned, and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates: 10 a.m. June 2 to 4 p.m. July 31, 2025
Rates: $50 per night for one guest or $200 per week for one guest. Acceptable forms of payment are as follows: money order, personal checks, or credit/debit card only.
Participants under the age of 18 must be chaperoned. Please note the following supervision requirements:
- For participants aged 5 or younger: At least one staff member for every six children
- For participants aged 6 to 8: At least one staff member for every eight children
- For participants aged 9 to 14: At least one staff member for every 10 children
- For participants aged 15 to 17: At least one staff member for every 12 children
At least 80% of the program’s staff members must be 18 or older. All staff members must be at least 16 years old and be at least two years older than the children they are supervising.
All staff members must also have training specific to the activity in which children are participating. The person supervising each activity must be an adult with certification, or documented training and/or experience, in that activity.
Any group staying in the residence halls must arrange to receive on-campus meals during their stay. Groups are not allowed to bring in off-campus food.

- A brief description of your conference, program or camp
- The name, phone number and email address of the group’s coordinator(s)
- The date and time when the first meal will be needed
- The date and time when the last meal will be needed
- Number of participants
- The type of service(s) needed (example include all-you-can-eat meals in a dining hall, catered buffets and special events)

- Groups staying in on-campus housing for 14 or more days must participate in a building evacuation drill.
- Groups that are not affiliated with UAlbany must apply for a Revocable Permit.
