Bayesian data analysis focuses on applying Bayesian probability theory as well as maximum entropy techniques to develop high-quality data analysis algorithms. We offer a senior/graduate level course on Bayesian Data Analysis every other year.
Many of the research activities in our laboratory are focused on developing and using Bayesian probability theory and maximum entropy methods to perform high-quality data analysis. Application areas in the past have included studying correlations among Earth climate variables, identifying and characterizing organic molecules in space, and studying planetary nebulae. Projects currently underway include vision-based robotic navigation, pulsar-based navigation in space, brain-computer interface, and analysis of stock market crashes.
