Next Steps for Deposited Students
Welcome Information containing important details about housing, orientation, advising, registration and more will become available to immunization compliant students on April 2.
Now that you’re officially a Great Dane, it’s time to reactivate your MyUAlbany account to gain access to 2-Step Authorization with Duo, Zoom and your UAlbany email. To initiate this process, you will need to Reset your Password. Resetting your password will automatically activate the rest of your account.
For more information, visit the Manage Your Account page, or contact Information Technology Services (ITS).
All new students are required to fulfill several immunization and health requirements prior to receiving their Welcome Information. Generally, you will be able to access your next steps one business day after your documentation is approved. Please note that Welcome Information pertaining to your next steps will not be released before April 2.
Welcome Information will be released through the UAlbany Applicant Portal on April 2 for students who have completed their immunization requirements. Welcome Information contains important details about your next steps, including:
Orientation
The University at Albany offers a two-phase Orientation program for new students: Connection Day and Welcome Week Orientation.
Connection Day is a one-day, in-person program with several dates offered between June 24th-July 12th. First-Year Welcome Week Orientation is offered on August 22nd – 23rd. Transfer Welcome Week Orientation is offered on August 23rd.
Through Connection Day and Orientation, you will have the opportunity to connect with your Orientation Leader and peers, learn about UAlbany resources, and explore campus. Deposited students will have access to register for Orientation beginning in early April.
Please see our First-Year, Transfer, and Families & Supporters webpages for more information.
Academic Advising
After signing up for a Connection Day, you will be assigned an academic advisor who will offer personalized advisement and work with you to create a fall class schedule that fits your academic goals. You will then have the opportunity to meet with your advisor at a Connection Day.
If you are a transfer student, you will be assigned an academic advisor who will reach out to you to schedule an initial advising meeting.
Campus Housing
If you are admitted to the University as a first-year or sophomore student, you are required to live in on campus residence facilities for your first two years at UAlbany. Transfer students are included in this requirement. However, commuter students, married students, students who are at least 21 years old, students who are veterans and students with a medical reason can apply for a housing exemption.
Housing Applications will be available on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. You must complete the housing application through MyUAlbany. Housing assignments will be released Thursday, August 1, 2024, and are active for the entire academic year.
Campus Dining
All students living in traditional residential housing are required to have a meal plan. First-year students are automatically assigned the myUnlimited Meal Plan #1 but can choose myUnlimited Meal Plan #2. Resident non-first-year students will automatically be assigned myFlex Meal Plan #2 but can choose any of the other myFlex or myUnlimited Meal Plans. UAlbany Dining provides comprehensive information regarding meal plan options, terms and conditions, and special dietary needs.
Additional items you will need to complete include setting up online billing and submitting final transcripts.
