In its 13th anniversary year, the PAC’s annual artist-in-residence exchange program will host this faculty ensemble from SUNY Fredonia featuring violinist Isabel Ong, violist David Rose and cellist Natasha Farny in a program of works by Mozart, Bach, Caroline Mallonee and Ernő Dohnányi.

Presented through an artist-in-residence exchange program with the School of Music at SUNY Fredonia. Funding support provided by University at Albany Foundation and University Auxiliary Services.
An accomplished soloist, Farny has performed concertos with orchestras such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Buffalo Philharmonic, as well as several regional orchestras. She has taken solo and chamber music tours across Germany, Czech Republic and Brazil, and has played recitals at many national venues like the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts in Chicago, New York City's Merkin Hall and Brooklyn’s Bargemusic “Here and Now” Series. She co-founded the Ekstasis Duo, which performs music for cello and piano, with Fredonia School of Music colleague Eliran Avni in 2018. Farny's debut CD of "French Cello Music" was released in 2020 on the Centaur label, and her second CD, "Women's Voices" with Avni, was released in 2021.
Ong is an avid chamber musician with a passion for contemporary music, collaborating with musicians such as Tom Landschoot, Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Miranda Cuckson, Yoshie Akimoto, Max Levinson and Scott Kluksdahl. She has served as a Fellow at the Foulger International Music Festival in Kean University, as well as at the Cortona Sessions in Italy where she premiered pieces by many of today's upcoming contemporary composers. In addition to serving as a member of the New Juilliard Ensemble led by Joel Sachs at the Juilliard School, she has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, National Sawdust and MOMA. Most recently, she was invited to perform in the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra in Switzerland.
Rose has served as a titled player of numerous orchestras, including Associate Principal of the Vancouver Symphony, Principal Viola of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and Acting Assistant Principal of the San Francisco Symphony. He is currently the principal violist of the G27 Chamber Orchestra in Toronto. Also active as a baroque performer, he was a member of the Pacific Baroque orchestra and has toured and recorded with Toronto's Tafelmusik. In addition to his teaching at Fredonia, Rose is on the faculty at the Rocky Ridge Young Artists Seminar in the Colorado Rockies each summer.
The trio’s appearance is part of an exchange program developed by UAlbany that is in its second decade. As the other half of the exchange, Capital Trio, the UAlbany Performing Arts Center’s ensemble-in-residence, visited SUNY Fredonia in January of this year.
In the inaugural year of the exchange program, the UAlbany Performing Arts Center worked with the Music Department at the CW Post campus of Long Island University and their ensemble-in-residence, The Pierrot Consort. The following year’s exchange was with Clark University and the QX String Quartet. The third year of the program featured the Oswego Jazz Quartet from SUNY Oswego. Year four partners were Williams College and the Williams Chamber Players while the fifth anniversary year was celebrated by then 99-year-old pianist Frank Glazer from Bates College followed by Quartet Anagram from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in year six. 2016’s exchange featured Potsdam Brass from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam while the Dobbs-Dikener-Botes Trio from Marshall University participated in 2017 and The Big Galut(e) from Hartwick College took part in 2018. The 10th anniversary of the exchange featured the Klugherz-Heyman Duo from Colgate University. In 2019, an exchange featuring AkaBlas from the TU Braunschweig in Germany marked the first international partners in the program. With a brief hiatus because of the pandemic, the exchange resumed in 2021-22 with The Copland Ensemble from Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music followed by the Stockton Chambers Players from Stockton University last season.
