Massry Faculty Celebrate Decades of Dedication

The Massry School of Business is proud to recognize the contributions of four faculty and staff who have reached significant milestones in their tenure at the University at Albany. These individuals have contributed to Massry in many ways, from founding school programs and planning school events to fostering student success.
Dr. David Smith: 35 Years of Visionary Leadership
Since joining the University in 1989 Dr. David Smith, associate professor and chair, has been a cornerstone of Massry. He has been integral to shaping the school's success by guiding students and leading game-changing initiatives.
Smith founded the Financial Analyst Honors Program, which focuses on supporting students in developing their financial analysis skills. The program includes smaller class seminars, rigorous coursework, individual mentorship and activities that prepare its students for the workforce. Since its inception, this program has seen more than 450 graduates who have continued to become successful professionals and supporters of their alma mater.
Massry is proud of Smith’s contributions and dedication to inspiring generations of students and colleagues over his 35 year tenure at Massry.
Dr. Eliot Rich: 30 Years of Dedication to Student Success
Dr. Eliot Rich, associate professor and chair, has been a beacon of support and guidance at Massry. He has dedicated his career to empowering students to achieve their life goals.
Rich has concentrated on developing many programs, including recent innovations in Business Analytics, launching the Business Analytics Undergraduate Certificate and the Master of Science in Business Analytics. These programs equip students with the skill set to analyze datasets, gain business insights and straightforwardly present them. After completing the courses, students are prepared for a successful career in the finance, marketing, human resource and management industries.
Rich’s 30-year milestone honors his commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for all students and strengthening programs at Massry.
Dr. Kinsun Tam: 25 Years of Excellence
Last year marked 25 years of service for Dr. Kinsun Tam, associate professor at Massry. Since joining UAlbany in 1999, Tam has distinguished himself as a strong scholar and educator in the accounting and law programs.
Tam has consistently inspired students to think critically and pursue their passions. Many of his former students have gone one to successful careers. This is a testament to the lasting impact of Tam's mentorship.
This milestone award commemorates Tam’s contributions to the university’s mission of excellence in education and research over the last 25 years.
Karen Schultz: 25 Years of Exceptional Service
Massry is celebrating Karen Schultz (seen in the photo above), administrative assistant for the Massry School of Business, who has reached an impressive 25 years of service at UAlbany.
Karen has played an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of Massry. Her attention to detail and organizational skills have been key to the school's success. She consistently goes above and beyond to manage complex schedules, coordinate events, assist with critical projects and meet the school's needs.
Beyond her professional contributions, Karen is known for her approachability and willingness to lend a helping hand. Her efforts have been influential to the success of Massry and the university.
