International Guests:
UAlbany is proud that each year many family & friends travel from other countries to celebrate with their graduates at Commencement events. To assist in this process the Office of International Student & Scholar Services has helpful information on what students can provide to their parents/guests to help establish the purpose of their visit.
The U.S. Department of State’s website on applying for a visitor visa includes a list of documentation needed. Please note that the “Additional Documentation May Be Required" section includes an important note that letters of invitation are not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa. Therefore, the University at Albany does not issue ‘letters of invitation’ as these letters are likely not usable at the visa interview.
