Request a Standby Crew

What is a standby crew?

A standby crew is a group of Five Quad personnel who attend an event to provide on-site care in the case of an emergency. Our standby crews are typically one or a combination of the following options:

  • EMT Crews: EMTs with medical supplies, but without a full transport ambulance, are needed at the event. We recommend this choice for any kind of event where emergency medical care may be needed.
  • Walk Teams: EMTs and/or CPR-certified attendants are needed to walk around the event and engage with the community. We recommend this choice for large events.
  • Bike Teams: EMTs and/or CPR-certified attendants are needed to bike around the event and engage with the community. We recommend this choice for running races and events where a bike can reach a participant in need more easily than an ambulance.
  • Ambulance Service: EMTs, medical supplies and a full transport ambulance are needed at the event. We recommend this choice for large events and/or events more than five miles away from UAlbany’s campus.

Who can request a standby crew?

UAlbany organizations or outside organizations can ask Five Quad to provide standby crews at special events held on or off campus, such as football games, graduations, marathons and concerts.

Requests for standby crews must be made at least two weeks before the event. All requests are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to Five Quad’s availability. There are no fees associated with this service.
