Faculty Expertise and Achievements
Paquita Y. Davis-Friday, PhD, CPA became the dean of the Massry School of Business on February 18, 2025. Before joining the Massry School, she was a visiting senior research scholar at the Columbia Business School, a professor of accountancy, and the former interim dean of the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. At the Zicklin School of Business, she was the senior associate dean from 2017 until 2022 and the executive director of Graduate Programs from 2013 until 2017. She earned her PhD in accounting, an M.A. in applied economics, and a joint MAcc/BBA degree, all from the University of Michigan. Before entering the PhD program, Dean Davis-Friday worked as an auditor for Deloitte in Detroit, as a tax accountant for Deloitte in Ann Arbor, and on the finance staff at Ford Motor Company.
Before joining Baruch College, Dean Davis-Friday was an assistant professor at the University of Notre Dame and a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan Business School and Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
Research Interests
Dean Davis-Friday’s primary research interests are executive compensation and postretirement benefits. Her work has been published in The Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, Contemporary Accounting Research, and other international accounting journals. As a member of the American Accounting Association’s Financial Accounting Standards Committee, Dean Davis-Friday was a principal author of the Committee’s responses to the FASB’s Exposure Drafts on Share-Based Payments and Pensions.
