PE Building Renovate Gym and Pool Infill

Background \ Overview:
This project is the initial phase of a complete PE Building Rehab currently in the schematic design phase and tentatively scheduled to begin construction in 2024. The project is intended to allow the campus to have a large athletic venue updated and available with similar amenities to Broadview Arena while the Broadview Arena was off-line for a major renovation to the arena space.
Project Description:
Rehabilitation of the PE Gymnasium (including asbestos abatement) including installing a new athletic flooring system, repairing room dividers with updated branding, new retractable bleachers on the south, updated sound / scoreboard systems, new wall padding systems, and other athletics/recreation amenities; Pool Area work includes asbestos abatement, removal of pool equipment/filtration systems, and infill of the pool basin with the installation of a new structural slab to allow for additional programmed recreational space to be built at a future date.
Project Dates:
- Project Design Complete – December 2021
- Project Mobilization and construction start – January 2022
- Project Completion – Winter 2023
Project Progress (as of April 2023):
The Pool Infill phase of the project was completed in August 2022, and a portable basketball court system and hoops were installed by Athletics to allow for team practices while the Broadview Arena is off-line for renovation. Construction is progressing in the Gym with new electrical and AV system infrastructure going in place prior to the installation of the new sports floor.
