University Library - Welding Near Entrance Vestibule

Work Alert Notification

Dear Members of the UAlbany Community,

Please be advised of the following work occurring on the University Library’s main entrance doors. During this time, work may result in odors from wielding and two entry/exit doors located in the main entry vestibule will continue to remain inoperable for the duration of work.

Work is expected to begin on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 7:00 AM and is expected to be completed by Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM.

Reason for Notification:

Communication to let building occupants know welding will be taking place in the entrance vestibule.

Critical Work Description or Scope:

Mechanical Repair will be welding a plate for support above the main entrance doors of the University Library. Building wide fire watch will be in place during work. Once the plate is welded, the Key and Electrical shops will work together to wire, mount, and connect the new H/C operator.

Potential Impacts on Surrounding Areas:

  • Change in access / egress – Signage will direct occupants around working area.
  • Fire Alarm(s)
  • Noise- Possible grinding noise or noise from the torches
  • Odor-Wielding or hot smells
  • Ventilation
