Multiple units, including the Registrar’s Office, are involved in planning, allocating and managing physical spaces at UAlbany. Managing Academic Space at UAlbany outlines how this complex effort is undertaken. These guidelines are refined as needed.

Then, please use these instructions for setting classroom preferences in the Campus Planning Interface (CPI). 

Department schedulers can only edit class preferences for their department. Classroom preferences only need to be assigned if an instructor has room and/or technology preferences. 

Fully online, arranged and off-campus classes do not appear in the CPI.

Technology Packages

Use these search terms to select technology packages in the Campus Planning Interface (CPI): 

  • “Tech Pkg – Internet Connection with Instructor PC” will return all classrooms that have an instructor PC and internet. You may select this technology package in addition to another (except for "Tech Pkg – Laptop Connect/Projector").
  • “Tech Pkg – PC/Doc Cam/DVD/Projector” will return only classrooms that have a document camera, instructor PC, internet, DVD player and projector. 
  • “Tech Pkg – PC/Doc Cam/Blu-Ray/Dual Proj Screen” will return only classrooms that have a document camera, instructor PC, internet, Blu-ray player and dual projection.  
  • “Tech Pkg – PC/DVD/Projector” will return only classrooms that have an instructor PC, internet, DVD player and projector. 
  • “Tech Pkg – Laptop Connect/Projector” will return only classrooms with a projector, internet and laptop connection. Note: There is no instructor PC in these classrooms. Laptops connect through VGA connector; if the instructor needs an HDMI hookup, then they need an adapter. They can bring their own adapter, purchase an adapter or borrow an adapter from the University Libraries. 

Most instructional spaces have been equipped with audio-visual (AV) capability that will enable instructors to synchronously broadcast their classes to students. However, technology setups will vary by classroom. For more information, please review ITS’ Classroom Technology Guide. 

If an instructor needs synchronous broadcast capability, be sure to choose one of the following technology packages in CPI: 

  • “Tech Pkg – Fixed Station” 
  • “Tech Pkg – Partial Mobility” 
  • “Tech Pkg – Extended Mobility”
